BMW's most powerful naked bike ever built, the K 1300 R has won the heralded Two Wheels Bike of the Year 2009.
Developing a maximum output of 127 kW (173 hp), the BMW K 1300 R is one of the most powerful and dynamic machines in its segment, bringing together industry leading technology and superior riding comfort. "BMW Motorrad holds the Two Wheels Bike of the Year in the highest regard and this latest win is a testament to just how good the new K 1300 series really is," said BMW Motorrad general manager Cameron Cuthill. "The Two Wheels Bike of the Year win is just further proof the ownership experience of a BMW is a very, very rewarding one," said Cuthill. Comments from the Two Wheels judges surrounding the BMW K 1300 R included: "It's a machine that can turn heads and change minds." "....there is very little this bike can't do to perfection...." "Everyone agreed that it was an excellent long distance, high performance tourer." "....the K 1300 R felt that it could be the fastest point to point bike in the tests." "The engine is a monster producing gobs of power from relatively low down." "It practically yells quality to you no matter which angle you approach from." "It's fabulously good at most things if not all." "....you get an awful lot of bike for the money." Whilst the BMW K 1300 R took the glory, credit must also be given to its smaller sibling the BMW F 800 R that was also a finalist in this year's Two Wheels Bike of the Year. |
